Jean Huxmann Memorial Fund for Young Children’s Music at Lapham and Marquette Elementary Schools
The purpose of the Jean Huxmann Memorial Fund for Young Children’s Music at Lapham and Marquette Elementary Schools is to support and promote primarily the recorder instrument and lessons in the music program at both Lapham and Marquette Elementary Schools in the Madison Metropolitan School District and, only if there is insufficient interest in recorder or a district-wide instructional change, general music instruction at those two schools.
The recorder is a wind instrument that uses different skills than those associated with stringed instruments, such as the ukulele. Musical instruction with both instruments provides a broader base for musical instruction, and may tap into the varied interests of different students. This fund will be used to purchase recorders and materials for students being taught the music curriculum at both schools.
