Sandburg Elementary
Sandburg is a 4K-5th-grade school of 450 students located on the northeast side of Madison near the Dane County Regional Airport. Our mission is to create the best possible conditions for students to learn and grow as global thinkers, high achievers, and inspired citizens who leave Sandburg prepared to pursue their dreams and contribute to the common good.

Our staff is dedicated to providing rigorous and engaging learning opportunities for all students through an emphasis on the critical 21st-century skills, especially the integration of technology. We believe that emphasizing fluency and literacy in language use, culture, and technology is an excellent way to provide students with outstanding, memorable learning experiences and the skills needed for success in the coming years.

- Major investments in technology allow every 2nd through 5th grader to receive an iPad and bluetooth keyboard. Our school also has laptops, interactive whiteboards and netbooks.
- We have historically had more happy and hopeful students and staff than many schools in the District, including those with considerably less poverty or other challenges.
- Dual language immersion programming available.
- Community News program allows 4th and 5th grade students to run a full-service community news program. From writing, producing, filming, directing and editing, our students produced a bi weekly community news broadcast.
- Specials programs include strings, lunchtime groups and after-school clubs, including a Cooking Club and Swing Choir.
- “Parenting is Hard” series allows an opportunity for parents to come together and learn practical and positive parenting techniques to create the happiest home life they can.
