For Lynne Gruneberg, growing up on Madison’s west side meant more than just attending school—it meant building lifelong friendships, discovering new passions, and gaining experiences that continue to shape her today. A proud graduate of Memorial High School’s Class of 2008, she began her educational journey at Huegel Elementary and Toki Middle before making her mark as a Spartan.
Some of Lynne’s best memories from MMSD revolve around the friendships she made—bonds that have remained strong even as life has taken her classmates across the country. She also found a home on the golf course, playing Varsity Golf (pictured with her team) for three years. The experience was more than just competition; it taught her valuable lessons in time management, resilience, and teamwork—skills that would serve her well in both her personal and professional life.
One class that left a lasting impression was marketing. Whether it was breaking down Super Bowl commercials the day after the big game or participating in hands-on learning opportunities like the Mini Business World internship, Lynne thrived in an environment that encouraged creativity and strategic thinking. Looking back, it’s no surprise that she pursued a career that blends both.
Today, Lynne is a Regional Sales Manager at Demco, Inc., a Madison-based company dedicated to transforming learning spaces. She shares Demco’s passion for supporting educators by equipping schools with innovative furnishings, creative space designs, and high-quality learning tools, supplies, and equipment.
“I’m extremely proud of the work my team and I do at Demco, where we help schools create spaces that give students more choice and ownership in how they learn. Looking back, I realize how much I would have benefited from that kind of flexibility in my own education. Every student learns differently, and I love being part of a team that helps schools embrace those differences and create environments that truly support both students and educators.”
Her connection to MMSD has come full circle in a way she never expected. With her son now beginning 4K in the district, she’s experiencing MMSD from a new perspective—not just as an alum, but as a parent. “MMSD provided me with a strong foundation, diverse experiences, and rich opportunities, and now I get to watch my son start his own journey here. I’m excited for the expanded opportunities he’ll have as he grows in the district,” she says.
Through Demco’s Adopt-a-School partnership with Hawthorne Elementary, Lynne (pictured with her colleagues and the Hawthorne Husky) also has the opportunity to give back as co-chair of the initiative.
“It’s a privilege to support Hawthorne’s hardworking staff and play even a small part in the tremendous impact they have on their students and families.”
Lynne’s experiences in MMSD helped shape her approach to problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration—skills she now applies every day in her work. Whether she’s helping schools design better learning environments or supporting educators through community partnerships, she continues to build on the foundation that started in Madison’s classrooms.
