Toki Middle School Endowment Fund
The income from the school endowment fund provides Toki Middle School the opportunity for school-based grants to support creative and innovative projects in our school.
For the 2017-18 school year this funded the following projects:
- Mentor resources for Intentional Mentoring, which targets mentors interested in helping close the achievement gap within our school systems. This achievement gap is both academic and social. Some students have a support network; others are less connected and may have a more difficult time standing in the face of adversity.
- Students will team build within their CREW classrooms to coordinate a day-long adventure outing, including a half day of volunteering, a half day of job exploration, and a community lunch. Each student will work with a partner in their CREW to plan their transportation, their budget, photo scavenger hunt activities and develop goals to incorporate Social Emotional Learning and Academic and Career Planning.
- Visioneers Design Challenge is a State Wide competition in the field of Design. It is STEAM career exploration and caters to our Advanced learners. This helps cover the cost of the competition, which also requires substitute teachers.
- Costumes and set materials to engage students with music in exciting, non-traditional ways. Many of the set pieces will be constructed by students.
