Thoreau Elementary School Endowment Fund
The income from the school endowment fund provides Thoreau Elementary School the opportunity for school-based grants to support creative and innovative projects in our school.
For the 2017-18 school year this funded the following projects:
- Whoopensocker is a Theatre LILA arts education residency designed for elementary schools developed by Dr. Halverson of the UW-Madison School of Education. In addition to being a dynamic community building experience for the entire 4th-grade, it uses a combination of performing and creative arts exercises. Whoopensocker’s ensemble of teaching artists bring in a toolbox of new ideas that work towards building the next generation of classroom experiences and focus on self-empowering all students.
- A variety of Maker Stations or centers will be developed by the Library Media Technology Specialist to be used by all K-5th-grade students during their weekly 30-minute Library class throughout the school year.
