Stephens Elementary
We are a large diverse school with approximately 550 students. Here at Stephens, our children are given the tools to succeed in an environment that promotes academic risk-taking and nurtures a love of learning. Our school is a meaningful place for all children and staff. We give children the tools to be thoughtful, responsible citizens who will be ready to take their place in the world.

We pride ourselves on maintaining students at the center of all our work, which includes celebrating children and the uniqueness of every child within our very diverse school. Our students live in over 6 neighborhoods on the west of Madison, speak more than 41 different home languages, and have over 400 family home cultures that we integrate into one interconnected school.
What Makes Stephens Elementary Unique

- K-5 bilingual program where native and heritage Spanish speakers have the opportunity to learn academics in Spanish and English.
- Movin’ Minds program offers daily time to work on brain/body connections.
- 4K and 5th grade teachers trained by the Center for Investigating Healthy Minds in mindfulness practices for children.
- Circles of Support provides an opportunity for our African-American male students in grades 3-5 to have a space to feel comfortable, learn skills necessary for success, and problem solve as a group.
